This year I will be using a program called Words Their Way. This is an amazing program for differentiating at all levels for learning new words. Students will receive new word sorts every Monday + will be tested on Fridays. Throughout the week, students will be completing daily assignments to help with sorting + spelling their words.

 

Reading Corner.png Reader’s Workshop This week in Reader's Workshop, students will continue to read our class novel, "Shiloh". As a class, we will talk about how the main character's lies are unraveling + take a look at how characters are changing throughout the story. Image result for book challenge *40 Book Challenge Summary: Once you have completed your book, you will write a brief summary. The summary should include a rating from 1-10 (10 being the best) + tell me why you rated the book the way you did. You may also include some of your favorite parts from the book. Good luck! I'm so excited to see who will complete The 40 Book Challenge!

Writer’s Workshop In Writer's Workshop this week, students will practice for our NJSLA testing. Students will practice answering multiple choice questions + practice responding to essay questions using the RACE strategy.

This week in Social Studies, students will continue to learn about the beginning of The Civil War. We will take a look at the beginning battles + discuss The Emancipation Proclamation.

In Science, we will continue learning about Matter and Energy in Organisms and Ecosystems. This week students will learn about the Trophic levels in the food chain/web + how they affect our ecosystem.
6th Grade: This week students will continue their study on the Earth's atmosphere. We will learn about ocean currents + air masses within our atmosphere.
